The U16 team had 2 Scottish National League games at the Royal Commonwealth Pool last night against Menzieshill and Stirling and managed 2 convincing wins to get their league challenge back on track. The team lost their opening 2 matches of the league to Aberdeen and Dunfermline before getting a win v Forth Vally and now with 2 wins last night this makes it 3 on the bounce for this young team.

In the first game v Menzieshill the Portobello team won 20-11 with goals from Gregor Turner (2), Esme McGregor (2), Maksim Livinston (2), Bethany Livingstone (2), Ben Scott (6) and Carys Hardy (6). With only 10 players available all players had plenty of water time and all contributed to a convincing win.

The second game was nearly a carbon copy of the first game with the team winning 19-10 and an excellent performance in the circumstances of playing back to back matches with only an 10 minute break between games. Maksim Livingston could not play the second match unfortunately due to a prior commitment so with only 9 players this was an excellent test of the young teams fitness which understandably started to fade a little in the second half of the game but victory was never in doubt at the half way stage with the young team in a commanding lead. Goals from Esme McGregor (1), Gregor Turner (2), Max Rait (3), Carys Hardy (5) and Ben Scott (8) completed the double victory for the U16 team.
