Portobello travelled to Guildford this weekend to play their final two matches in their BWPL 2012 campaign. First up they would face Cheltenham who have been the force to be reckoned with this season. The match ended 15-9 in favour of the English side.

Porty then faced Manchester and it was a tightly fought match but with 23 seconds of the match remaining, Ivan Losa (Porty's Barcelona import) bagged the winning goal to secure the points and a 4th place finish in the league (narrowly missing out on 3rd position to Bristol on goal difference). The final score was Portobello 11 - 10 Manchester.

Portobello have been building year on year in the league for several seasons now and the next job for the boys is to retain the British championship title. Cheltenham would go on to clinch the top spot - congratulations to them for a very stong performance this season.

The British champs qualifying round is just two weeks away at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.  Porty are likely to be facing Cheltenham, Manchester and Caledonia (who have qualified for the first time); the aim will be to secure at least two wins to book a place in the finals on 23/24 February, also in Manchester.
