Guaranteed place in British Champ Finals

After 2 excellent victories against Cheltenham and Lancaster this weekend, Porty have booked their place in the semi-final of the British Championships. 

Porty played excellently against Cheltenham to be 5 goals up after 3 periods. Cheltenham came back in the fourth but Porty edged it 12 - 11.

The momentum continued into their second game of the day and Lancaster were unable to threaten Porty at any point in the match. Porty played some excellent defence to snub most of Lancaster's attacks, and...

Porty are Scottish Cup Champs 2011

February 1, 2012
Portobello secured another victory in the Scottish Cup which now makes it 8 in a row for the team that train at the baths doon by the sea. Over the past 20 years Porty have won this title 17 times.

Porty with a strong finish to BWPL 2011

Portobello had a fantastic final two games to wrap up their BWPL 2011 campaign. They were up against Penguin and Cheltenham, winning both games convincingly.

Porty vs. Penguin 14-6  (2-0, 2-1, 4-2, 6-2)

Man-up scored 3/7 43%;Pen 1/1

Man-down saved 3/5 60%

Convincing Win in Scottish Champs

Porty came up against Warrender on Sun 15th Jan in the Scottish Championship preliminary matchup.

It was a convincing win with porty scoring some 28 goals to Warrender's 8. There were impressive performances with John MacDonald scoring 4 and Rory Gallagher with a hat trick!

BWPL matches to be televised on SKY Sports!

BWPL will achieve an exciting and historic landmark when Sky TV screens action from men’s and women’s Super 5s matches at Manchester Aquatics Centre!

 

The fixtures on 21 and 22 January are to be filmed for Sky and broadcast in an edited “Match of the Day” type programme on a number of occasions shortly afterwards. Frustrating results for Porty

Porty have now played in their first 3 BWPL weekends in the 'Super 5s', having travelled to Lancaster, Crystal Palace and Loughborough in Nov/Dec. 

Despite having bagged some 53 goals over 6 games and having produced some of their best performances for years against the toughest teams in Britain, Porty have unfortunately been unable to grab a win and are currently positioned at the bottom of the Super 5s.

Porty in 'Super 5's'

October 16, 2011
Porty travelled to Loughborough this weekend to play their final two matches in Phase 1 of the BWPL. Cheltenham continued their unbeaten run winning 18 - 9, and they are certainly a force to be reckoned with this season. Porty won comfortably against Invicta beating them 14 - 9. Porty therefore finish in 3rd place at the end of Phase 1, Division 1, a great result!

Porty lose to Lancaster

September 18, 2011
Portobello were unable to win against Lancaster this afternoon meaning that there is now a three way tie for 2nd place with Manchester in the top spot.

Cheltenham, Invicta, Bristol & Penguin all have 2 games in hand having not played this weekend.
